What is a Bernedoodle?

Here at New England Bernedoodles the Mini F1 Bernedoodle is a mix between one of our Bernese Mountain Dogs and one of our Miniature Poodles. The Mini F1 Bernedoodle at maturity can range from 30-40lbs. The standard Bernedoodle is one of our Bernese Mountain Dogs and one of our moyen (small standard) to standard poodles. An Australian Bernedoodle is one of our Australian labradoodles bred to one of our beautiful bernedoodle girls.

Colors of our New England Bernedoodles

Bernedoodles comes in many different colors. Traditionally the black tri color which consists of black, white and tan or rust colors and will strongly resemble the Bernese mountain dog's colors. Bernedoodles also come in sable tri color which will consist of any sable color, tan and white markings. Bernedoodles can also come in a Merle color. We breed only to a Mm for the health of the dogs which means when breed we will only get 1/2 merle puppies from the litter therefore if you are wanting a merle bernedoodle the wait maybe a bit longer. We here at New England Bernedoodles also produce the bi colors which are most generally black with the white Bernese markings or chocolate with Bernese white markings. The Australian Bernedoodles genetic color code allows for many variances so we can get a jellybean effect of colors which we love as each one is individual.

Shedding/Hypo-Allergenic Coat

There are different coat types in Bernedoodles. The Australian Bernedoodle will be non shedding, allergy friendly and extremely soft (an Australian Labradoodle to one of our our Bernedoodles). The Bernese to Poodle combination will produce lovely coats however, they are not as allergy friendly and maybe low shedding.

Bernedoodle Temperament

The miniature Bernedoodle is a wee bit more active than the larger Bernedoodle. Both the miniature and the standard New England Bernedoodle we produce are affectionate, loving and gentle with other animals and children.

Training and your Bernedoodle

The bernedoodle, being 50% poodle is very intelligent, making them easy to train. We do recommended to start training at an early age and be consistent in training exercises.  We here at New England Bernedoodles have a trainer that comes to us and trains all our dogs. Health

Health is possibly the greatest attribute for crossing the Bernese with the poodle or the Australian Labradoodle with the Bernedoodle. Bred to be smaller in size the hybrid cross are the the least likely to inherit congenital health problems, hip or elbow dysplasia, patella and/or eye issues. We here at New England Bernedoodles do our due dillagence before breeding by testing OFA Hip,OFA elbow and OFA eyes along with recessive disease testing and DNA testing in all our sires and dams before being breed.

Exercise 

The Bernedoodle requires a moderate amount of exercise.
